I am writing to plead for your help to bring my dearest, Joe Wood, to justice. Joe is the most charming, polite, intelligent and now very successful business man, who is running his own business, single handed in Austin. He provides continuous love and support for me and my 2-yo daughter, Zaeda. He is an active, well respected member of this community who has been sorely missed for the 13 days and counting that he has been detained by ICE at Rolling Plains JAIL and Detention center in Haskell, TX. He is charged with no crime yet he sits, locked up in a 10×10 cell with 7 inmates. He stands to lose his business in this blatant mis-use of power. PLEASE help us!

Born in Scotland, Joe is a LPR (#043-859-557) who moved to Dripping Springs, TX with his step-father, mother, brother and sister in 1992 (at 10). Returning to the states through DFW on 5/2, Joe was detained and stripped of all his rights by CBP on the grounds of a misdemeanor conviction that was successfully deferred in 2001. His first semester at college, a single POM misdemeanor is the only trouble Joe has ever gotten into and he was honorably discharged on deferred adjudication with 1yr of probation. No one told him that this would create so much trouble years later.

We’ve employed legal counsel and have still been misled by ICE who informed Joe he would be released by 5/10. At this point, we’ve been advised to sit and wait, but I can’t while Joe’s business is suffering and so is his health! Joe built his email marketing company from scratch over the past 7 years. Although he recently hired one employee, Joe has already lost significant income and is at risk to lose it all if he’s not released. (Joe’s business attorney recommended I contact my senator, see his reference to Joe’s work ethic below.) Even as an active member of CrossFit with a very healthy lifestyle, Joe is congested and fighting sickness as the facility is filthy, AC caked with dust and the nutrition is deplorable (bologna/cheese sandwiches with boiled corn and shredded lettuce for dinner!).

He pays his taxes and has never been in any trouble except that one time when he made a bad choice. He’s a good man that is loved by many who are outraged and appalled at the situation. I hope to hear from you soon with some ideas on how we might approach this issue. Anything you can do to help will be forever appreciated. I just want my Joey home and free like he deserves to be!

You can blame him all you want…but you’ll also have to blame:

1. The people who aren’t paying attention, and won’t vote, even though they’re eligible.

2. Democrats who know their party has been hijacked by radicals, and don’t seem to care or want to fight back, and do the right thing for their country.

3. People who like getting “freebies” more than they love their country, hence, wanting to keep a party in who they think will be a spigot that never ends. Boy! Won’t they be surprised when they’re done with their agenda?

4. Blame the NEWS MEDIA and CORPORATIONS (i.e., G.E., Goldman Sachs, etc.) who are the water carriers for these Marxists…and who think they’ll get the MEAT…once they begin to starve us all into submission. Want an operation? Do what we say or no Obamacare! Want an education? Do what we say or no school. Want food? We’ll turn the water off to your farms, and we’ll stop the food from coming in from other countries if you don’t do what WE say. Want gas? You won’t get any gas from other countries if you don’t do what WE say. Yadda…yadda…yadda. Deja vu. 1930′s. It took about 7 or 8 years from the first rumblings of fascism until the rise of Hitler…the killing of Jews and Christians.

And everyone asked, “How could so many people have gone along with it? The news media? The military? The police? The German people? How come they all say “They didn’t know? How about the stuff the French did to the Jews? Delivering them over to the Germans?

5. Lastly, blame the republicans who are frightened of their own shadows. And all the previous administrations who slid further from the Constitution…and did many underhanded things, to which we now hear “Well…so and so did it….and it was okay….”

There’s enough blame to go around…isn’t there?

People SAY they don’t like the porn in movies…but do they stop going to them?

They don’t like the swearing in music…but do they stop buying it? Or listening to it?

These people wouldn’t have CAREERS if the people would just say “WE’RE TIRED OF YOU PEOPLE….go live in the gutter where you can practice that stuff all day long!”

A Russian journalist wrote a letter to Americans one day after seeing that America is fast becoming Russia….and he gave it to us right between the eyes….it was very potent stuff.

And he was 100% right. We have no one to blame but OURSELVES! For what WE ALLOW. BUY. ACCEPT. PUT UP WITH. IGNORE.

Barack Obama sent a personal letter of condolence to late rapper Heavy D’s funeral, which was read at the service by none other than the Rev. Al Sharpton.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers,” read the Obama note.

That’s all good and well. It is always a nice gesture when the President of the United States reaches out in compassion to the families of those who suffered an early and tragic death.

It’s just very telling and extremely disrespectful that he couldn’t find it in himself to do the same for the family of slain border agent Brian Terry, who died serving this country in a most honorable manner.

Over the last year, the Obama administration has aggressively pushed a $433-million plan to buy an experimental smallpox drug, despite uncertainty over whether it is needed or will work.

Senior officials have taken unusual steps to secure the contract for New York-based Siga Technologies Inc., whose controlling shareholder is billionaire Ronald O. Perelman, one of the world’s richest men and a longtime Democratic Party donor.

When Siga complained that contracting specialists at the Department of Health and Human Services were resisting the company’s financial demands, senior officials replaced the government’s lead negotiator for the deal, interviews and documents show.

When Siga was in danger of losing its grip on the contract a year ago, the officials blocked other firms from competing.

Siga was awarded the final contract in May through a “sole-source” procurement in which it was the only company asked to submit a proposal. The contract calls for Siga to deliver 1.7 million doses of the drug for the nation’s biodefense stockpile. The price of approximately $255 per dose is well above what the government’s specialists had earlier said was reasonable, according to internal documents and interviews.

Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell today filed suit in the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to recover the congressional seat taken from Louisiana as a result of the 2010 Census.
To properly apportion seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Constitution requires that a census be taken every 10 years to count the number of lawful residents in each state.

But wait… Welcome to Obama World. Where law and constitution can easily and carelessly be set aside in favor of socialist policy and Democrat agendas. Might as well count them since some new ACORN wing of the current government will be counting their votes anyway during the next national election.

In the 2010 Census, the Census Bureau included illegal foreign nationals, along with holders of guest-worker visas and student visas, in the count of lawful residents of each state. As a result of the Census Bureau’s practice, states with large numbers of illegal foreign nationals gained congressional seats, while states with low numbers of illegal foreign nationals, like Louisiana, lost congressional seats.

Oh good.. they did. Wouldn’t want to miss all those illegal and unconstitutional votes when it’s time to buy another election. I wonder if they’ll forego the physical assaults on (legally voting) old ladies this time…

“Louisiana’s complaint simply asks the Court to require the federal government to recalculate the 2010 apportionment of U.S. House of Representative seats based on legal residents—just as the Constitution requires,” said Attorney General Caldwell.

Caldwell said the requested relief in the suit will not require a new census because the needed information is already available in the 2010 Census results.

Doesn’t matter how easy it is or could be to correct. This lawsuit will be buried by a murder of lawyer crows and never see resolution.

I guess if the money for a new bridge got redirected somewhere (or some-who) else then rust busting is about the best they can do. Go figure… seems that even while Calcasieu Parish and Louisiana moves forward into the 21st century and decent government we still manage such major stumbles… and dangerously repeating the past.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is currently undertaking maintenance of the bridge which includes replacing damaged rivets, removing rust, and sealing deck joints. As of August 2011, the DOTD removed 38 of the damaged original 1951 decorative crossed pistols from the bridge’s handrails. Replacements for these damaged pistols are being recast to install on the handrails.

The bridge was built between 1948 and 1952 under the Administration of Governor Earl K. Long. At the time it was considered an engineering marvel which captured the imagination of people at the time just as the old dueling pistols still are a fascination for some.

It’s estimated they have fifty to sixty pistols to replace. No decision yet on what the state will do with the old pistols no longer part of the railing but we’ll let you know when they decide.

According to state officials, about 10,572 decorative crossed pistols were originally placed there as a symbol of Southwest Louisiana’s pirate history. Local legend has it that the famous pirate Jean Lafitte buried some of his treasure in the area. According a Louisiana State Legislature resolution, the bridge was officially named the “World War II Memorial Bridge” in June of 1951. In the bridge’s early stages, the name “Jean Lafitte Bridge” was recorded on some of the building plans and was mentioned as a preferred name by bridge designer N.E. Lant.

I have a bad feeling that this is another DEADLY accident waiting to happen…
